Supersaver of the week: Mr Alex Mathenge from Kollor Boda & Mr Elkana Shaurot from Kitisuru Boda
Another great week here at Wakandi, and we welcome Mr Alex Mathenge from Kollor Boda and Mr Elkana Shaurot from Kitisuru Boda to award them as the supersavers of the week. We are thrilled to see the massive progress that both groups are making to digitize their operations with CAMS. This is our effort to feature them on our channels and praise their efforts.
Both Mr Mathenge and Mr Shaurot are boda boda riders in Kenya. They make 20-25 rides every day to drive their customers or deliver goods to earn bread and butter for their families. They saved the most this week in their SACCOs using the CAMS app. Here is our Director, Espen Kvelland, awarding Wakandi merchandise to the members for their awesome contribution.
Receiving the merchandise from us, Mr Mathenge said, “On a good day, I can do 25 trips or more without allocating time to pass by my SACCO office to make deposits. Even on a bad day, with 10 trips or less, I keep my loans serviced and I get real-time updates on the remaining loan balances. After every saving I send from Mpesa, WAKANDI sends me my balances through my mobile phone."
At the same time, Mr Shaurot received Wakandi merchandise from Margaret Wanjiku, Cooperatives Officer at The Ministry of Cooperatives. Our team joined them remotely to congratulate them.
At the office, we discussed with Mr Harrison Ayodi, Chairman at Kollor Boda and Mr Matanda, Treasurer at Kollor Boda. Seeking views of Mr Matanda on how the system is helping to make his tasks easier, he said that CAMS has made it relatively easy for him to view various accounts at once and track balances of member’s accounts. He also added that using the system saves a lot of time as everything is available online and can be easily found at the click of a button.
Mr Ayodi shared his thoughts on the system too. He said, “Today, more and more of our members send their contributions directly to the bank from their mobile phones, eliminating the need for them to come to the office or the treasurer moving around with his register. Wakandi has made it easy for us, the board of management, to prepare and present accounts."
CAMS as a digital system makes it easy for the users to keep track of different accounts and retrieve information without needing to go through multiple documents and files which can take days. All the account and transactional information can be viewed and shared with members quickly, easily, and safely.
We congratulate the winners and hope they inspire other members to save more with CAMS.
