Joining hands with the Hunger Project Uganda
We are thrilled to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Hunger Project to establish strategic partnerships and work relations for facilitating savings and credit unions with our digital solution. Mr Espen Kvelland, CEO of Wakandi Group AS and Miss Irene Naikaali, Country Leader at The Hunger Project Uganda signed the agreement during the event.
The MoU was signed recently in an event hosted in Kampala, Uganda in the presence of Mr. Ole Reidar Bergum, Deputy Ambassador of Norway to Uganda and Honorable Minister of State for Cooperatives, Mr. Freddrick Ngobi Gume. The event was graced by many esteemed organizations including, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, Bank of Uganda, UCSCU, AMFIU, Norwegian Association of Disabled, Airtel, MTN, and CBS PEWOSA.
On signing the MoU with Wakandi, Irene Naikaali, Country Manager of Hunger Project Uganda said, "The Hunger Project is very excited to join forces with Wakandi in pioneering a transformative approach to food security and poverty reduction in Uganda. The Hunger Project operates with over 80000 SACCO members in Uganda, bringing us a massive opportunity at Wakandi. The objective of this MoU is to:
- Deliver our digital solution to 80000 SACCO members to help them manage their finances and transactions online.
- Embody the Wakandi solution in the day-to-day operations of the SACCOs to make their lives easier.
- Enable USSD transactions to facilitate payments through feature phones.
- Eradicate hunger of the communities by transforming systems.

The Hunger Project is a non-profit, strategic organization committed to the end the issue of world hunger. The organization aims to facilitate individual and collective actions to transform systems of inequity that create hunger.
The Hunger Project has been in operation in Uganda since the year 1999. It is empowering community partners to end their hunger and poverty.
